United Airlines is accelerating its plans to introduce Starlink technology to its global passenger base, significantly enhancing the inflight connectivity experience. The airline has announced it will begin testing Starlink next month, with the first commercial flight featuring the service anticipated this spring on a United Embraer E-175 aircraft. United aims to outfit its entire two-cabin regional fleet with Starlink by year-end and plans to have its first mainline aircraft equipped with the service operational by the same timeframe.
Long-term, United intends to expand Starlink access across its entire fleet. MileagePlus members will benefit from complimentary access to Starlink, which promises a transformative inflight entertainment experience, including streaming, shopping, and gaming capabilities. Membership in MileagePlus is available at no cost.
Last September, United entered into an agreement with Elon Musk's SpaceX to integrate Starlink across its fleet. In the coming months, United's passengers can expect to experience the same high-speed, low-latency internet service in the air that they currently enjoy on the ground.
