Belgium Consumer Morale Lowest Since 2022
In April 2025, Belgium's consumer confidence indicator dropped to -14 from -10 in March, reaching its lowest point since December 2022. This decline reflects the aftermath of the Ukraine conflict and the following energy crisis, nearing the historic lows observed during the 2020 pandemic. Specifically, the outlook for the country's economic situation over the next 12 months dampened significantly, falling to -44 from -35 in March. Similarly, expectations regarding households' financial situations decreased to -8 from -3. Additionally, concerns about unemployment slightly increased, rising to 21 from 20, while the propensity to save stayed constant at 17.
