Belgium Inflation Rate Hits 15-Month Low
In April 2025, Belgium experienced a reduction in its annual inflation rate to 2.55%, marking the third consecutive month of decline from 2.91% in March. The primary factors contributing to this decrease were the deceleration in price growth within the housing and utilities sector (5.9% down from 7.6%), as well as in recreation and culture (2% down from 2.3%), and miscellaneous goods and services (3.5% down from 3.7%). Additionally, transport prices saw a sharper decline (-0.7% versus -0.1%). However, these reductions were partly counterbalanced by slight price increases in food and non-alcoholic beverages (up to 2.8% from 2.5%) and health (rising to 1.8% from 1.7%), along with a more gradual decrease in prices for clothing and footwear (-2.2% compared to -3.7%). On a month-to-month basis, consumer prices dropped by 0.83% in April, following a slight 0.07% decline in March.
