Indonesia Consumer Mood Falls to 5-Month Low

Indonesia's consumer confidence index fell to 121.1 in March 2025, declining from 126.4 in February, marking the third consecutive month of decline. This downturn reflects weakening purchasing power and a contracting middle class, resulting in the lowest recorded level since last October. All six sub-indices experienced deterioration: job availability fell by 8.3 points to 125.9; job availability compared to six months ago decreased by 5.9 points to 100.3; the economic outlook dropped by 7.0 points to 131.7; the country's current economic conditions lowered by 3.6 points to 110.6. Meanwhile, income expectations for the next six months decreased by 6.3 points to 137.0, although expectations for current income saw a slight improvement of 1.4 points to 121.3.
