Indonesia Trade Surplus Beats Estimates
In March 2025, Indonesia recorded a trade surplus of USD 4.33 billion, which represents a slight decrease compared to the USD 4.58 billion surplus of the previous year. Nonetheless, this figure surpassed market predictions of a USD 2.64 billion surplus. Exports saw an unexpected year-on-year increase of 3.16%, marking the twelfth successive month of growth, albeit the slowest since last July. This performance outdid forecasts predicting a 3.4% decline, although it showed a significant slowdown from the 14.05% increase recorded the month prior. Imports increased by 5.34% in comparison to the previous year, falling short of the anticipated 6.6% rise, and following 2.3% growth in February. Last year, Indonesia reported a trade surplus of USD 31.04 billion, down from USD 36.89 billion in 2023.
