Paraguay Inflation Rate Accelerates to 1-1/2-Year High
Paraguay experienced an uptick in its annual inflation rate, reaching 4.4% in March 2025, up from 4.3% in February, marking the highest level since July 2024. This increase was primarily driven by rising costs in various sectors such as housing and utilities, which rose to 2.68% from 2.16% the previous month. The food and non-alcoholic beverages sector saw a notable jump to 6.36% from 4.90%. Similarly, there were increases in education (4.78% from 4.70%), restaurants and hotels (5.93% from 5.26%), and furniture (3.23% from 3.15%). Conversely, the pace of price increases slowed in sectors including transportation, which dropped to 2.99% from 5.49%; health, which went up slightly to 2.72% from 2.65%; recreation and culture, which decreased to 5.38% from 5.96%; and clothing and footwear, which fell to 2.17% from 2.26%. Month-over-month, consumer prices in Paraguay increased by 1.2% in March, following a 0.4% rise in February.
