Belgium Construction Output Drops for 2nd Month
In March 2025, Belgium experienced a notable decline in construction output, which fell by 6.6% compared to the same month the previous year. This represented a further decrease from the 2.9% drop recorded in February, which had already been revised downward. This marks the second month in a row that the construction sector has seen a decline, with production declining across all subsectors. Specifically, building construction fell by 9.2% compared to a 4.8% decrease in February, civil engineering work dropped by 6.7% versus a 2.2% fall the previous month, and specialized construction activities decreased by 5.1% compared to a 2% decline in February. When looking at the seasonally adjusted monthly figures, construction activity fell by 0.9% in March, which is a slight improvement from the 1.2% decline seen in the previous period.
