US Year-Ahead Inflation Expectations Revised Downward
In August 2025, the year-ahead inflation expectations in the United States, according to the University of Michigan survey, stood at 4.8%. This figure is a slight decrease from the preliminary estimate of 4.9% but higher than the June five-month low of 4.5%. Concurrently, the five-year outlook was adjusted downwards to 3.5% in August, lower than the initial estimate of 3.9%, yet still above July’s 3.4%.
