Argentina GDP Growth Misses Expectations in Q2
Argentina's economy expanded by 6.3% in the second quarter of 2025 compared to the same period the previous year. This growth fell slightly below the anticipated 6.5% expansion but marked an acceleration from the 5.8% increase recorded in the first quarter. This represents the most rapid growth since the second quarter of 2022, primarily driven by a resurgent agriculture sector, which grew by 4.8%, up from 3.7% previously, as the nation began to recover from a historic drought that had heavily impacted grain yields. Additional sectors saw notable advances: manufacturing production surged to 6.9% from 0.7%, wholesale and retail trade jumped to 10.3% from 2.5%, transportation and communications rose to 1.4% from 2%, and financial intermediation soared to 26.7% from 8.4%. Conversely, utility services experienced a slight decline, slipping to -1.1% from -1%. On a quarterly basis, the country's GDP experienced a minor contraction of 0.1%, after a 1.1% growth in the prior quarter.
