Luxembourg Current Account Surplus Expands in Q2

Luxembourg posted a current account surplus of EUR 725 million in the second quarter of 2025, an increase from EUR 513 million during the same period the previous year. This marked the second consecutive quarter of surplus, primarily driven by a notable increase in the goods account surplus, which rose to EUR 516 million from EUR 277 million a year earlier, and an increase in the secondary income surplus, which grew to EUR 241 million from EUR 146 million. Furthermore, there was a reduction in the primary income deficit, which decreased to EUR 6,810 million from EUR 8,321 million. However, the services account surplus experienced a significant contraction, falling to EUR 6,779 million from EUR 8,412 million in the prior year.
