Ibovespa Inches Higher on Corporate Gains
The Ibovespa experienced a modest increase, maintaining a position above 144,000 on Friday. This rise was buoyed by encouraging corporate developments and some momentum from commodity producers. Embraer saw a 1.9% uplift following its report of 62 aircraft deliveries in the third quarter, a growth from 59 in the previous year, marking a 25% increase in commercial planes to the highest third-quarter figure in eight years. WEG climbed by 1.4% as it forges into the European market for electric vehicle charging, with its battery chargers expected to hit the local market early next year.
Petrobras edged up by 0.3% as oil prices stabilized and after it engaged Azevedo & Travassos for a new hydrogen unit. Vale gained 0.2%, while steel producers CSN and Gerdau increased by 1.3% and 0.7%, respectively, as the restriction on BHP cargoes in China bolstered iron ore prices.
In contrast, Brazil’s services PMI dipped to 46.3 in September 2025 from 49.3 in August, indicating the sharpest contraction in nearly four and a half years. Oi plunged 7.5% after a court in Rio de Janeiro rejected its appeal to pause a ruling mandating a transition of services and the removal of its board members.
