Namibia Inflation Picks Up in September
In September 2025, Namibia experienced an uptick in its annual inflation rate, reaching 3.5% after hitting a seven-month low of 3.2% in August. The primary factor for this rise was a recovery in transportation costs, which moved from a decline of 1.0% in August to an increase of 1.3%. Additionally, there was a noticeable escalation in the prices of housing and utilities (3.6% compared to 3.4% in the previous month), clothing and footwear (rising to 1.9% from 1.5%), recreation and culture (increasing to 4.0% from 3.8%), and hotels, cafés, and restaurants (moving up to 4.2% from 3.8%). Conversely, there was a deceleration in price growth for several categories. Food and non-alcoholic beverages saw a decrease in inflation from 5.2% to 4.9%, same as alcoholic beverages and tobacco (dropping from 5.5% to 4.9%). Household furnishings and equipment saw a reduction from 2.0% to 1.6%, miscellaneous goods and services experienced a decline from 3.5% to 3.0%, and health costs fell from 3.4% to 3.1%. On a month-to-month basis, consumer prices remained stable, marking no change for the second month in a row.
