TSX Breaks 7-Day Win Streak
The S&P/TSX Composite Index declined by 0.6% to close at 30,352 on Tuesday, thus halting a seven-day upward trend. The market was pressured by significant downturns in mining stocks, alongside weakness in the technology sector. Both financial and energy stocks also experienced a decline. Leading the losses were Agnico Eagle, Wheaton Precious Metals, Barrick, and Franco-Nevada, each slipping between 1.3% and 2.4%. Additionally, notable tech companies like Shopify and Constellation Software saw decreases of 1.9% and 1.5%, respectively, following similar trends among their U.S. counterparts. On the economic front, Canada's Ivey Purchasing Managers Index surged to 59.8 in September 2025, a notable rise from 50.1 in August, reaching a 16-month peak and surpassing market predictions of 51.2.
