During the abbreviated trading session on Christmas Eve, the STOXX 50 remained relatively unchanged, closing at 5,749, while the STOXX 600 edged slightly above neutral, finishing at 588.8, following a record high close the day before. Notably, luxury stocks led the market, with LVMH advancing by 1%, Hermes increasing by 0.6%, and L'Oreal growing modestly by 0.1%. Meanwhile, Iberdrola saw a gain of 0.4%. In contrast, ASML Holding and AstraZeneca each experienced a decline of 0.5%, with Airbus slipping by 0.2% and Unilever decreasing by 0.4%. BP, after initially rising, ended the session down by 0.4% following its agreement to divest a 65% stake in Castrol to Stonepeak. Additionally, Sanofi's shares dipped by 0.4% following its announcement to acquire Dynavax.
