US energy companies injected 73 billion cubic feet (bcf) of natural gas into storage in the week ended June 12, slightly below market expectations of a 75 bcf build. This compares with an injection of 97 bcf in the same week a year earlier and is in line with the five-year average (2021–2025) increase of 73 bcf for that period. Total inventories rose to 2.759 trillion cubic feet, 1% lower than in the corresponding week last year but about 5.8% above the five-year average for the same week. By contrast, in the week ended June 5, companies added 108 bcf of gas to storage.
