Indonesian shares slipped 24 points, or 0.4%, to 6,173 in early trade on Monday, extending losses for a fourth straight session. The decline was broad-based, with infrastructure, transport, non-cyclical, and energy stocks all under pressure, as investors reacted to the unexpected resignation of Bank Indonesia Governor Perry Warjiyo.

State Secretariat Minister Prasetyo Hadi said President Prabowo Subianto had accepted Warjiyo’s resignation, while Senior Deputy Governor Destry Damayanti was appointed interim governor. Warjiyo cited personal reasons for stepping down.

Downside sentiment was partly offset by firmer U.S. equity futures and lower oil prices, following a weekend pause in U.S.–Iran tensions. Traders also remained focused on the U.S. Federal Reserve’s upcoming midweek rate decision.
