The US Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) price index fell 0.1% month-over-month in June 2026, matching market expectations, after a 0.5% increase in May. Goods prices declined 0.6%, the sharpest drop since November 2023, while services inflation slowed to 0.1% from 0.5% in the prior month.
The core PCE index, which excludes food and energy, rose 0.1%, following a 0.3% gain in May and coming in below the anticipated 0.2% increase. On a year-over-year basis, headline PCE inflation eased to 3.7% from 4.1%, in line with expectations. Core PCE inflation edged down to 3.3% from 3.4%, also matching forecasts.
