Boeing Co. (BA) is set to reduce its workforce by approximately 400 positions within its Space Launch System (SLS) program. This decision arises from adjustments in NASA's Artemis program alongside shifting financial forecasts, as several media reports have noted.
The Artemis initiative, which aims to facilitate the return of astronauts to the lunar surface, has been beset by delays and escalating costs.
In accordance with the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act, Boeing has reportedly distributed 60-day notices to those employees affected by this reduction.
The reports further suggest that Boeing is collaborating with its customer to curtail job losses and ensure the retention of skilled personnel.
