US 30-Year Mortgage Rate Rebounds
On April 17th, the average interest rate for a 30-year fixed mortgage backed by Freddie Mac climbed to 6.83%, marking the highest point in two months after four weeks of decline. "The 30-year fixed-rate mortgage increased slightly, yet it has stayed below the 7% mark for the thirteenth week in a row. At this time last year, rates had peaked at 7.1%, accompanied by a 13% decrease in purchase application demand compared to current levels. This indicates a more robust start to this year's spring homebuying season," noted Sam Khater, Chief Economist at Freddie Mac.
