Argentina Retail Sales Growth Slows in June
Retail sales in Argentina experienced a rise of 27.8% in June 2025 compared to the same month in the previous year, measured at current prices. This marks a deceleration from the 45.1% growth observed in May. Most retail categories displayed reduced growth rates, including food courts and restaurants, which rose by 33.7% compared to 64.1% in the previous month, and clothing, footwear, and leather goods, which increased by 31.6%, down from 32.9%. Similarly, the growth in pharmacies and perfumeries slowed to 24.3% from 48.5%, toys witnessed a decline to 42.3% from 72.0%, electronics and IT to 20.0% from 58.9%, leisure and recreation to 6.3% from an extraordinary 141.1%, and bookstores and stationery stores to 23.0% from 48.2%. When adjusted for inflation, retail sales actually decreased by 4.5% year-on-year, compared to the 6.2% increase noted in May.
