Portugal Consumer Sentiment Worsens in Aug
The Consumer Confidence Index in Portugal took a downturn, falling to -16.2 in August 2025 from -15.7 in July. This decline reflects a growing pessimism among consumers regarding the nation's economic climate over the preceding year, with the index moving from -34.1 to -35.7. Expectations for the coming twelve months have also deteriorated significantly, dropping from -20 to -25.6. Concurrently, consumer sentiment regarding the appropriateness of making major purchases worsened, with that index slipping further to -58 from -54.3. Additionally, there's been a marked decline in expectations related to household financial conditions over the next year, falling from -0.4% to -3.7%. It is noteworthy that perceptions of the financial situation within households over the past year have remained constant at -10.7.
