Latvia's Current Account Shifts to Surplus
In February 2025, Latvia's current account achieved a surplus of EUR 67 million, a significant turnaround from the EUR 23 million deficit recorded in February of the previous year. This marked the fourth consecutive month of surplus. Contributing to this improvement, the services account surplus expanded to EUR 174 million, up from EUR 133 million the previous year. Additionally, the primary income account moved to a surplus of EUR 38 million, reversing a previous deficit of EUR 59 million. Conversely, the goods account deficit widened to EUR 187 million from EUR 155 million, and the secondary income surplus increased to EUR 43 million from EUR 28 million.
